Australian Sets World Record Sinking 135 Yard Putt

I was watching highlights on the Golf Channel and one of the stories was about a new Guinness record for the longest made putt. I went to Google to find out more and found an article about a group of Youtube stars called “How Ridiculous” had set the record.

Australian YouTube stars How Ridiculous have made a name for themselves with their incredible basketball trick shots, but the guys have taken to fairways for their latest sporting feat after managing to set a new world record for the Longest golf putt-non-tournament.
Team member Brett Stanford managed the historical shot at the 5th hole at the Point Walter Golf Course, Western Australia earlier this month.
The record setting putt was measured at 135.67 yards.  I guess in this case, it was “putt for show”.
Here is the video.

Dustin Johnson Wins L.A. Open

Dustin Johnson easily won the Genesis Open in L.A. played on Riviera Golf Club. Johnson ran out to a big lead after a third-round 64, and then cruised to the clubhouse in the final round for a 5-shot win over Thomas Pieters and Scott Brown.  At one point he lead by as many as 8 shots in the final round.

With the win, Johnson has now won at least one event in each of his first 12 seasons on tour, and also moved up to the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings. Johnson also climbed up to the 4th position in our Power Rankings.

Here are some highlights from the PGATour’s Youtube page.

Jordan Spieth Wins Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Jordan Spieth cruised to an easy 4-shot win over Kelly Kraft at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This was Spieth’s ninth tour win, making him only the second person to win 9-times before the age of 24 (Tiger is the other).

Here are the highlights taken from the PGA Tour’s Youtube channel.

Nike to Introduce Air Jordan Golf Shoes

Golf.com reports that Nike is introducing a golf version of the Air Jordan I.

Nike sneakerheads rejoice: you will soon be able to wear the iconic Air Jordan I on the golf course. Starting Friday, Nike will roll out red, black and white and white and silver versions of the Air Jordan I in a special golf edition on Nike.com and at select retailers.

The shoe will be waterproof and the sole will have soft-spikes, so these will not be good for going from playing partners on the links to two-on-two on the courts.

Will Nike next put out a Tiger Woods basketball shoe, being a basketball sneaker that looks like golf shoes with the iconic fist pump silhouette on the soles?

Here is the winning putt:

Please tell me how Webb Simpson’s putting grip is not an anchored stroke?
