I am calling it now.  Mo Martin’s approach shot on the 72nd hole is the shot of the year in golf. It was the perfect shot at the perfect time, and with the shot she won the 2014 Ricoh Women’s British Open.

Here is the shot.

With the win, Mo went from 362nd to 52nd in our Power Rankings.

Mo finished her round well before the final groups and was on the range preparing for a possible playoff when she found out she won.  Mo’s victory was sealed when Inbee Park hit a poor bunker shot that she needed to hole on the final hole (it looked like I hit that bunker shot).

When Mo was finally taken over to the 18th green it was great to see a lot of the other players come out and shower her in champagne and congratulate her. I think it is great how the LPGA players all seem so happy for each other’s successes. It’s one of the things I like best about the LPGA.

Here is Mo’s post-round interview.
