U.S. Wins 2016 Ryder Cup 17-11 Over Europe

The U.S. has won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008 (which was also at Hazeltine), defeating the Europe team by a score of 17-11.

There were a couple of “matches of the day”.  The first match of the day between Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy set the tone for the matches.  Both Reed and McIlroy seemed to be playing a shot-making game of “top this” which drove the crowd into a frenzy, never more-so than on the exchange on the 8th hole.


Here is the scorecard for the Reed/McIlroy match which was won by Reed, 1-up:

The other “match of the day” was between Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia.  Mickelson had 10 birdies, and Garcia put up 9 birdies of his own.  It was only right that this match was halved.
