Phil Mickelson defied the odds on Sunday and went out and won the PGA Championship at the age of 50!! I went on Twitter and found some reactions to a win for the ages.

Mike Weir Wins on Champions Tour

https://www.thescore.com/pga/news/2165504/amp

Mike Weir won his first PGA Tour Champions event at the Insperity Invitational at the Woodlands in Texas. Weir won the event by two shots over John Daly, Tim Petrovic, and David Toms.

Good for Mike Weir, who struggled for years to get back from injury and some questionable swing changes.

Here are the highlights from the PGA Champions Tour’s YouTube page:

Max Kieffer Puts Three in the Water on 5th Playoff Hole to Lose Austrian Open

Poor Maximilian Kieffer, the longtime European Tour player who is still looking for his maiden victory, plays great at the Austrian Open and ends up in a playoff with John Catlin. They play the par-3 18th over and over again, with it looking a couple of times like Kieffer would win. And then on the fifth time playoff hole, well, disaster.

I have the video from the European Tour Youtube page cued up the to the fifth time around here:

Congrats to John Catlin for the win, and keep your head up Max, that win will come.

Patty Tavatanakit holds off Lydia Ko to win ANA Inspiration

From https://www.lpga.com/news/2021/tavatanakit-takes-lead-in-rolex-annika-major-award

There was some incredible golf played at the ANA Inspiration.  Patty Tavatanakit played great for all four days, and Lydia Ko shot 10-under on the last day to make things a little interesting.  What looked what might have been a boring final round (Patty started with a 5-shot lead) turned into pretty compelling theatre.  There was lots of great golf played, but Patty and Lydia were the show on Sunday.

And of course there is the best victory celebration in all of sport.

In case you missed it, here are the highlights I found on the LPGA Youtube page.

And here is Anna Wu, from B.C. chipping in. She finished second to Alexis.

Jaivir Pande holed the last putt to win the boys 14-15 age group.

And the final ceremony.

Congratulations to all of the competitors. These memories will last a lifetime.

Little Rascals Divot Diggers

By MGM – source, PD-US, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?curid=56215879

I was looking up something on Youtube, seemingly unrelated, when this popped up in the list of “related” videos.

The Little Rascals, or Our Gang, were a bunch of kids having great adventures, putting on shows, fighting fires, foiling criminals, etc.

I vaguely remember watching “Divot Diggers” episode when I was a kid back when there were Saturday morning cartoons. Overall I would say this is pretty terrible. Enjoy!

Hovland Makes Quadruple Bogey on Final Hole at WGC

Have you ever had a good round going and then struggle to get it into the clubhouse? Viktor Hovland came to his final hole on Friday only 2 shots behind the leaders, but then broke the cardinal rule of golf by following one mistake with another and another, en route to a quadruple bogey finish.

Here he is trying to escape the brush behind the green, after blading his approach from the fairway bunker.

Here is his shot track. A little bit of a back and forth going on there.

Here is his card.  One of these things is not like the others.

To his credit, Viktor handled with his disastrous finish quite well.

Is Jack Cantin the Next Golf Phenom?

Well, maybe not the “next”, but definitely a potential future phenom.  Jack has the best swing for the “under 3” division, as judged by Annika and another Jack (Nicklaus).
